We stayed at Melmerby Hall and Stag Cottage from 22 December - 27 December 2023 to celebrate my 60th Birthday and the Christmas festivities. We have previously had the pleasure of holidaying at various cottages owned by the Rowley Estates and it was exciting to be celebrating at Melmerby Hall this time around. Christine and her amazing team make the whole experience 5 star (from initial enquiry to leaving at the end of the stay) at whichever property you stay in. There were 24 of us in Melmerby Hall and Stag Cottage (including 9 children) and every one of us could not fault anything about it. The Hall is so well equipped, and the beautiful welcome hampers are second to none. Both properties were decorated for Christmas with the most beautiful trees, door wreaths, swags, ribbons etc. We made use of the wonderful gardens with a treasure hunt for the children and to run energy off playing hide and seek. All the children were delighted too that we had a visit on Christmas Eve from Father Christmas himself! All in all, our stay has to go down as one of our best Christmas' ever and we cannot thank Christine and her team enough for their hard work and dedication to make our dream come true. A beautiful property in the most fantastic location, with endless walking opportunities from the front door. I am so looking forward to our next cottage stay later this year.

Incredible. I hosted 25 women for a yoga and wellbeing retreat. The estate was gorgeous, and immaculate. Everything I could have wanted and more. Evrry single person was in awe and we have made memories for life. We will be back!

We had a wonderful stay last week at Melmerby Hall. It really is a delight! It was immaculately prepared for us when we arrived. It is beautifully furnished and equipped with everything a big party needs and the huge and well maintained gardens and woods were great for walks and for the children to run around. It’s also ideally placed to visit the many places of interest in the North Lakes.

Another perfect stay at Melmerby Hall, this time for my parents 60th wedding anniversary. Melmerby Hall outclasses all other large properties we have stayed at and in this price range. It has the right mix of a homely feel with the grand touches and proportions of such a period Hall. All the bedrooms are a great size, beautiful bathrooms and beds you don't want to get out of. There is plenty of room for all 18 people staying both inside and out. The gardens are large, with different areas to stroll through. The younger adults played rounders and tired out us older adults out while those less able sat watching on the patio. The dogs loved exploring and we walked through the woods and by the stream each morning. We booked a catered meal with Lynn Hilditch her food was amazing. Mike at the Shepherd's Inn provided a delicious Sunday Lunch and Angie from the village bakery delivered pastries for breakfast. Thank you to Christine, Charles and the Melmerby Team for another unforgettable stay. We hope to see you in May or June next year.

Love this place. We got married and stayed at Melmerby Hall. We stayed again for a second time, this place is amazing. The Hall, the grounds and is dog friendly. We had a lovely relaxing stay. We are hoping to go again for a third time in the future. Highly recommended.

We have just come home from our family visit to Melmerby Hall for my 70th birthday. The stunning house and gardens made our celebrations extremely special. Our meal on Saturday night, prepared by Lynn Hilditch was superb and her staff were exceptionally attentive to all our needs. The gardens were perfect for our family sports day and the BBQs and fire pit made a wonderful setting for our outdoor festival! Wonderful memories made .

We went to Melmerby Hall for my sisters hen party and had an amazing experience! Firstly, the grounds are beautiful and so well tended to. The building itself is stunning and so spacious on the inside. Lovely attention to detail and great communication! Will definitely plan to stay here again!

We stayed at Melmerby Hall at the end of April for a fun filled family birthday celebration. There were 16 of us aged from 63 to 1 staying in all 9 rooms plus 5 more family members in Stag Cottage. We are just local and had never stayed in one of the Rowley Estates properties though we had heard good reports and we weren't disappointed. The property itself is superb as are the extensive grounds, the bedrooms are all very luxurious with lovely bathrooms. The rest of the house is huge with plenty of reception rooms to spread out but also plenty of space for everyone to sit in the same room or around the same dining table. As for the billiards room on the top floor that was the icing on the cake. The kitchen is very well equipped - two dishwashers, two fridges and endless crockery, cutlery and glasses plus as much cooking equipment as you might ever need. The aga and central island make it a great sociable space and everything was so well thought out. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch too. As soon as we left all the family were desperate to go back for another get together, it really was fantastic in every way.

Just returned from an anniversary and birthday celebration weekend at Melmerby Hall, and Stag Cottage. A wonderful location for a big get together with friends and family. All the bedrooms are en suite with very comfortable beds and lovely products in all the bathrooms. The welcome hampers in both properties were fantastic and well received, they even had treats in for the dogs. It was very relaxing with room for all of us to spread out, especially in the beautiful gardens where the children, and dogs, enjoyed running around and exploring. The hi light of our weekend was a celebration dinner on Saturday night, Lynn Hilditch catered for us.The meal was superb, nothing was too much trouble for her and Lynn and her staff looked after us all very well.I would highly recommend Lynn for any special event. I would certainly book with Rowley estates again and recommend them to my friends

Christine and the Rowley estates team do such a great job of making a journey to one of their properties not just memorable but personalised. This is the third trip we have had booked to one of their properties and the best trip so far. Lovely beautiful house with such a well equipped kitchen for a large group. We also took the Stag cottaged which is connected so more than enough space in the Halls living areas that felt homely and spacious, we were 16 people but we could have been 40 people and still have space socially. Look forward to staying again and have decided we will just pick another of the estates first and look at the area second.
